What it is

A back-panel cover is the protective shell that fits over the rear of your phone. It replaces (or covers) the original back surface and helps with:

• Protecting against scratches, scuffs or minor impacts.

• Preserving the aesthetic of the phone (so the rear doesn’t get worn or dirty).

• Potentially adding grip or a new texture/finish.

• Sometimes allowing “replacement” of the original rear if it got damaged (though full rear glass replacements are more complex).
